Natercia Valle is an Assistant University Librarian at Marston Science Library (STEM Instruction Librarian) at the University of Florida. Her research experience includes Design-Based Research and Design and Development Research in formal and informal learning contexts.
Dr. Valle’s research has focused broadly on the theoretical and practical aspects related to cognitive and affective outcomes in online, face-to-face, and blended instructional environments. She has designed, developed, and implemented learning analytics dashboards as technology-enhanced pedagogical tools to support learners’ motivation and learning outcomes.
Dr. Valle has participated in interdisciplinary research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). In these interdisciplinary studies, she has applied innovative methodologies such as eye-tracking and learning analytics to investigate if and how certain design and instructional components influence learners’ motivation and performance outcomes. To study these themes, she used multiple authoring software technologies (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods.
Dr. Valle’s scholarly activities related to Educational Technology have resulted in publications and conference presentations at local, national, and international conferences such as American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). Prior to her current position, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Social Media Lab at Cornell University.
